Do Mck, BCG, Bain do international internships?

I've been wanting to get some international consulting experience for quite some time and was wondering if foreign offices will take my application seriously.

Has anyone successfully interned at these offices as a foreign student? Will they entertain my application? Or do I need to be a resident of the country or studying at a local uni? What is the best way to network with people at foreign offices?

I go to a target school in the US and have a 3.6 GPA. I was hoping to apply for offices in the Middle East, Europe and East Asia.

Hi there,

Pretty unlikely. Your best shot might be in the Middle East.

Network with consultants from the target office to test the waters.

Cheers,

The short answer is no. It’s almost impossible to do based on what I have seen. There are of course exceptions, especially if you know some of the senior people in the firm personally who can make such a thing happen. Full time roles however some offices especially in the Middle East are open to graduates from different countries

Thank you for the insight! after some networking, it seems that middle eastern offices are a bit more open about this than European ones.

They will only consider you seriously if you can convince them that your intentions are serious and that you want to return if you are given a full time offer afterwards. If you just want the internship and nothing else, then they're unlikely to give you any offer.

Also beware that if you intern in that office and you get an offer, it will be for that specific office.
