digital marketing assessment on test gorilla

Any suggestions for brushing up for a test on digital marketing?  The assessment which I will do at test gorilla is in a restricted time format and does not allow much time.

Hi there,

All of these online tests are very similar

Format? Somewhat. Content and what's required from you ability-wise? Mostly the same.

The best way is to really find online tests / questions and practice. Regardless as to whether is a new or old test, the principles are mostly the same:

  • Time management (need to think quick)
  • Business knowledge/context (incl key formulas)
  • Critical thinking (answers that are very similar to each other...clues "hidden" in the text)
  • Ability to interpret data/charts

Think of it as a merge of a case and the GMAT/GRE.

You need to be clear on some key case-related and account formulas (margin, growth, breakeven, etc) as well as be good at critically understanding the question (including nuance to questions) and parsing through complicated text with a fair amount of distraction.

You'll also need to be good at chart/graph reading.

The (old) McKinsey PST, BCG Online Test, Bain SOVA test, etc. are all quite similar so leverage resources across all of them.

Hi there!

First of all, reach out to the recruiter and try to squeeze from them more information about the format of the test.

e.g., is it going to be GMAT based or will there also be content questions?

e.g., is it multiple choice?

e.g., will I have do to a recording of me answering a questions?

etc.

Knowing these things will help tremendously because you can be more focused with your prep. Then let us know here as well and we can refine our answer accordingly.

Realistically there's a lot of materials out there to prepare for these sorts of tests, but if you don't want to boil the ocean then you should know specifically what you are working towards.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, I would advise you to revisit the basics of digital marketing. Familiarize yourself with key terminologies, tools, and techniques such as SEO, SEM, content marketing, email marketing, and analytics.
  • Moreover, since the assessment has a restricted time format, I would highly advise you to practice mock tests or quizzes within the given time frame. This helps in managing time effectively and improves the speed of answering.
  • Lastly, as digital marketing is an ever-evolving field, make sure you're updated with the latest trends and technologies in digital marketing. This will not only assist you in the assessment but will also be beneficial in real-life applications.

You can find more on this topic here: Speed reading techniques.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming assessment, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there

You have several online test on digital marketing to practice (just Google them!).

Try to focus on:

  • Polishing digital marketing expert content, concepts and formulas for main KPIs (CPA, ROAS, LTV, etc.)
  • Manage the test time to finish on time
  • Run quick mental math for calculations
  • Read and process key insights from data tables and charts

Good luck!

Alberto
