Question about

Definition of weekend

Hi,

unfortunately it is not entirely clear to me why we say that drivers can only participate in one rush hour, yet, the table says that we participate in both weekend rush-hours even though the driver simultaneously participated in Friday's morning rush hour. Wouldn't it be far more clear if the weekend would be defined as Saturday and Sunday, so that there is no overlap?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

This is a great lesson in reading/listening carefully!

It's also a great lesson in clarifying questions.

When the case says drivers can only participate in 1 rush hour, it specifically says morning OR night. So, they can only work morning or night. However, they can definitely work weekdays AND weekends!

"Remember that driver benefits only from morning or evening rush, not both. If a driver benefits from morning rush"

Hi Ian, thanks for your answer! I might not have articulated my message clear enough. What I was saying is that by following the calculation in the sample solution, the driver would serve both the morning as well as the evening rush on Fridays (which according to the part you referenced and I had in mind when I was asking my question is not possible). It would only be possible if Friday night would count as "weekend" while Friday morning counts as "weekday", which would not make too much sense in my opinion. Could you briefly comment on that? Thanks in advance!
