Cases in German

Hello consulting community,

do you know any good sources of case studies in German?

I know there are some on PreLounge, but not many and their quality is not always high.

Thank you!

Hi there,

The classics are the case books by squeaker (there is, I believe, one on learning cases and one that just has more practice cases) and e-fellows (Perspektive Unternehmensberatung).

The approach to learnings case interviews in both is outdated, so use them as case source only. That being said, the cases there are of varying quality (when I studied them a while ago, some were highly calculation-intensive and did not even remotely mirror top tier strategy consulting interviews), so only use them to get a feeling for types of questions and topics and perhaps as a low energy read for topic-wise exposure.

Therefore: No, I think there is no great source and you should rely on quality material in English. You can let ChatGPT translate if it helps.

Best,
Gero

Within Preplounge German cases, to see all german cases, change the language to German by clicking on the German flag on the bottom of the page or click on the following link: https://www.preplounge.com/de/case-sammlung.

Hi there,

just to add to what has already been commented on:

Even if you apply to consulting firms in Germany, you are expected to be fluent in English. Parts of your interviews will likely be conducted in English. And when it comes to the day-to-day consulting work, many projects are international enough so that at least all the documentation of the work will have to be done in English.

That said, if you are not fluent in English, getting a foot in the door in consulting in Germany will be a challenge. So you might as well use the wealth of English cases readily available for your preparation.

Best of luck

Hi there,

Unfortunately, there are no good German cases available.

I would identify good English consulting club case books and bulk translate some with Deepl (without reading them before).

All the best,

Florian

Not aware of any specific ones.

But I would encourage you to reach out to students currently at german business schools and ask for some of the materials they use.

Aside from this, translating english cases in german is your default option.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

You've got a few options here:

  1. Preplounge cases (they have many in German)
  2. Find German case partners (who can translate on the fly)
  3. Use AI to translate English case - please only use AI for this (and knowledge building)….it's really garbage at most case prep support
