Can/should I apply to strategy consulting firms before graduation?

Hi all,

I am looking to apply for positions in strategy consulting. I finished my thesis and my supervisors are looking into it for a grade. At the moment I have a relatively good average grade (converted to American GPA: masters 4, bachelors 3.5), and I do not think that my thesis grade will lower my grade. At what point is it usefull to actually apply? As far as I see there is three options:

- Now, tell them my current average grade,

- After I got my grade for my thesis comfirmed,

- After I officially graduated (can take some time).

My fellow students aiming for other jobs usually start applying at my current stage, since the average grade is not the most important thing. However, since I heard it is very important in strategy consulting, I am wondering if it would be better for me to wait with sending out applications until everything is official.

Hi,

The grade should not be something to prevent you from applying and you can easily point out your current average grade. They will check the grades if you get the offer, but no one will be calculating the real average and comparing it with your resume.
