Can you please tell me which could be the pros and cons to work in a MBB in London vs Milan?

Hey,

this is a tough question that cannot be generally answered!

I would talk to people who work in the London Office vs. the Milan office and ask for their experience (how is the infrastructure at the office, community, staffing, size of office!, Italian working style vs. English).

Then it depends on your preferences & also the place you like to live in!

Hello everyone, Thanks for your replies! Maybe I have explained badly what I meant. My question was not around place's culture, weather, food etc. But more on which are the differences in terms of office itself. E.g which are the focused practice for both offices, what type of projects does each office work more on? How the work-life balance differentiate the two offices?

That depends on:

  • Preferred industries
  • Preferred working language
  • Preference for travel
  • Culture
  • Location preference (would you rather live in Milan or London)… with all that comes with it (things to do, weather, nearby cities, gastronomy, cost of living, …)
  • Cost of living
  • Salary vs. Cost of Living
  • Long term career preferences (and also alternatives in consulting and outside consulting if you decide to switch jobs)

Hi there,

A few pointers:

  • Both are extremely competitive in terms of getting an offer
  • Lifestyle (work hours) is better in London on average.
  • London has more opportunities since it is usually the largest office in Europe
  • London has more local staffing opportunities
  • Cost of living is higher in London

This leaves out all the personal preference factors (friends, family, vibes, weather, activities, etc). This should play a major role in your decisions too!

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • The only aspects that matter when choosing between these locations are your individual career goals and personal life preferences. Each city offers unique opportunities and challenges, and it is crucial to align them with your professional and personal goals.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
