BCG Referral Portal

Hello Consultants,

I had my resume sent for referral on BCG's portal. My understanding is that I will receive an email from BCG recruiting with a link to complete the application.

The person who referred me mentioned that the process has changed and I now need to apply through the online general application on the BCG website. They said I will not receive a link via email.

Could someone please confirm if this information is accurate and up-to-date? I ask because I have another contact who is willing to send in a referral as well, and I feel a bit confused about not having two referrals.

Thank you.

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, it's great that you have a referral for BCG. I would advise you to follow the new process as mentioned by your referrer, since they should know it. Companies often update their recruitment strategies, and it's crucial to stay aligned with their current procedures.
  • Moreover, regarding the possibility of having multiple referrals, it's not uncommon in the consulting industry. However, I would highly advise you to clarify this with your two (potential) referrers or directly with the recruiting team. They can provide the most accurate information about handling multiple referrals.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

Whatever your referrer says is accurate! In general, this can change across offices/time periods.

But, if your referrer has been there for a while and presumably knows their own's firm process, then you need to follow what they tell you!

Not a bad idea to reach out to your 2nd referrer to double-check the process (without telling them you have another referrer)

Hi there,

congrats on the referral. If the person referring you is fairly senior and has a tenure with the firm, I would follow their instructions (I would still mention them by name in your application documents, such as cover letter, so at least the connection is visible).

On the flipside, if the person referring you is pretty new to the firm (and you suspect that they might not be reliably informed), it certainly can't hurt to validate the process steps with the other person you have in your back pocket (without using them for a referral).

But yes, overall recruiting happens at the local level. The individual processes can therefore vary by country and region across consulting firms.

Best of luck

Hi,

If you're unsure, call the recruiting team and confirm.

They're used to applicants checking-in/calling/confirming etc so you won't do yourself any harm and you'll find out exactly what you need to do.

Cheers,

B.

Hi there,

Q: Could someone please confirm if this information is accurate and up-to-date?

The process depends on the firm and country. When I applied to BCG 10+ years ago, I also had to apply online and indicate there the person referring me. So if they informed you that this is the process, it should be accurate.

You can check with the second person if you prefer. Please note that normally you can have one official referral only.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

I suggest you double check with a second referral or with a recruiter what is the process to follow.

Best,

Alberto

That's fair.

The process differs between offices (some don't even have an online referral platform) and has also been changing.

My strong recommendation would be to reach out to the recruiter and clarify with them.

Otherwise, you risk applying without your referral being connected to your application, which basically means they won't even notice that you had a referral.

Good luck!

Recruitment processes can vary between companies and may change over time. It's possible that the process for applying to BCG has been updated since the last time you received information. To get accurate and up-to-date information about BCG's application process, it's best to reach out directly to BCG's recruiting team or check their official website.
