BCG Platinion Online Assessment

Hi All,

I have been invited by the HR to take Bcg Platinion's Online Assessment for the IT Architect position.

1. Can someone give me an overview of what to expect? Is it similar to general BCG Online Case
2.  Any specific sources to practice? - I have seen some previous posts regarding MConsulting prep's online simulation, but this was for the generalist role.

The HR had mentioned that it would be digital focused, but I could not find any additional information on their careers page.

Thanks

While I can't directly answer your questions, here's some information that I believe might be useful.

They use a mix of technical questions / cases and regular case interview cases (probably more IT/Digital focus). A few examples of questions:

  1. How would you perform a tech DD for a bank buying software
  2. How to improve a company's IT architecture and what benefits would it give if things X, Y and Z would be done?
  3. Cloud implementation Pro's and Con's
  4. A customer in the telecom industry in the Middle East wants to enter the IoT market and has limited experience. How would you define a GTM (Go-To-Market) strategy (target operating model, business case, etc.)?

If I were you, I'd push back to HR and ask for more information.

There are rarely any guides on the market for specialised roles because the number of candidates is really low.

I've worked with several candidates before interviewing for technical roles within digital (McK, Platinion, etc.) but I don't happen to have examples of tests they have done.

I would expect the format to be similar to the one they give to generalists, only the content to be more focused on digital.

One additional thing you could do is reach out to new joiners (<1 year of tenure) and try to get additional information from them on how they prepared for the test.

Best,
Cristian

Congratulations! While specific details about the assessment may vary, here's some general guidance to help you prepare:

  1. Overview of Assessment: BCG Platinion's Online Assessment for the IT Architect position may differ from the general BCG Online Case, as it likely focuses more on digital and technology-related scenarios. You can expect questions and simulations that assess your problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and ability to apply digital solutions to business challenges.
  2. Practice Resources: While there may not be specific practice materials tailored to BCG Platinion's Online Assessment for the IT Architect position, you can still benefit from practicing digital-focused case interviews and problem-solving exercises.  Additionally, consider reviewing technical concepts related to IT architecture, digital transformation, and emerging technologies to ensure you're well-prepared for the assessment.

Good luck on your journey and let me know if I can help you. I have vast experience in digital oriented cases and have worked mainly on digital assesments on my time in McKinsey.
