Hey all,
I am an experienced software engineer preparing to apply for BCG Digital / Technology practice. Job descriptions (Digital Strategy Consultant) mentions AI, data analytics, agile methods.
I am wondering how BCG Digital / Technology case interviews differ from those at technology consulting firms like Accenture for example.
The cases i have seen from Accenture / Deloitte go really deep about specific technologies (Cloud) and vendors (Salesforce). Same dynamics with BCG / McKinsey Digital ?
And apart from cases, how does the job itself differs ?
Thanks
BCG Digital / Technology vs Accenture case interviews
Hi there,
I have a list of real BCG Digital/Tech questions asked in interviews.
The cases tend to be more at the strategic level but can be implementation as well.
It's quite tough to find adequate tech-focused cases. That's why I created 3 :)
All of these based on real-life cases and have a tech-focus.
Please feel free to reach out if you would:
a) Like more technology-based cases
b) Like to be cased in the two above (hint: They don't cover all aspects of those projects...i.e. the cases could take multiple twists and turns and test additional themes when I conduct them)

BAckground: IT Consulting
BCG BAckground: Multiple projects with Platinion + GAMMA….essentially, digital projects
Candidates: Multiple (around the world) for BCG Digital (TDA)/Platinion
Cases: I've actually already created multiple cases based on my projects while at BCG

Hi,
Sharing some perspective on the BCG Digital interviews.
I recently helped someone with BCG digital interviews. The processes consisted of a mix of technical cases (to test AI/Data Analytics knowledge) as well as cases that were closer to the traditional type of generalist case interview (to test business judgment etc).
Hi there!
Re the case studies themselves, ask the recruiter whether you'll have digital case studies or generic ones (i.e., from any industry). Most of my candidates applying for digital roles have had a mix of them.
If you want to practice some digital cases, you can check these out (based on recent McK interviews):
Re how is the job itself, this is a great opportunity for networking with current employees and potentially getting a referral along the way. Here's how to do it:

Hi there,
Having worked for Accenture Technology and McKinsey Digital practice, I can take both questions.
Q1: How BCG Digital / Technology case interviews do differ from those at technology consulting firms like Accenture?
BCG (and McKinsey / Bain) digital case interviews follow the same structure as other generalist cases but the theme is around a digital or tech topic (industry, company, challenge to solve, etc.). Digital / tech interviews of tier-2 firms should be more focused on validating you have the technical knowledge and in some cases they might even require a hands-on technical test.
There might be an exception in MBB interview process and this is when you apply to a specialist position. Apart from the case interview, there might be a TEI (technical experience interview) where you will be required to validate your technical expertise sharing some professional stories.
Q2: Apart from cases, how does the job itself differs?
As Digital Consultant in MBB, you will be more focused on solving strategic questions for CEO’s or C-Level executives. In tier-2 firms, digital consultants work more on solving more tactical questions and leading project implementations.
Good luck with interview preparation!
Alberto
