Area available for floating wind calculation

Hello,

I don't understand how the area suitable for floating wind is calculated. There doesn't seem to be enough information - it is hard to gauge the width of the area shown on the map.

Would totally back Ian.

In terms of mindset

→ Forget the extreme precision requirement - this is not a orbit calculation at PhD level

→  Shift to be obsessed about LOGICAL, CRISP, REASONABLE and BACKED-UP estimations through the case

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out to deep-dive, if helpful

Hi Jiajin,

There is plenty enough information available.

The map shows you the lines where wind can be installed. It also tells you how much 200km is. You need to look at this to get an estimate of the amount of space available.

Hi Ian, Thanks for the clarification. Yes, I did see the 200km scale. I just didn't arrive at the same numbers for the two areas, so I thought I missed something. I guess these numbers are just estimates taken for easy calculation later on.

Hi Jiajin,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • While, in general, there is enough information to calculate the area available for floating wind, I completely agree with you that it is not crystal clear and would most likely require some guidance from the interviewer.
  • You chose the right approach. Still, I would advise you to balance the precision and speed of your calculations.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
