Are there currently ongoing hiring freeze in FY25 with Big 4, across consulting (e.g. EY/ PwC) / strategy (e.g. Parthenon/ Strategy&)

Hey there,

I am awaiting for my offer as I was told that I made great impression for my interview. However, it's been 2 months since my final interview. As from what I've heard, it could have been some hiring freezes in some of the Big 4 offices, causing this regional role to be potentially impacted.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on going through the entire application process!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, apart from perhaps a brief period during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has really never been a complete hiring freeze, in any region or country.
  • Moreover, I wonder why you have not yet contacted the recruiter and instead waited two full months. I would highly advise you to contact the recruiter as soon as possible to find out for sure, as only they can tell you the status of your application.
  • Lastly, I would advise you to apply to other consulting firms if you haven't already, to maximize your chances of getting at least one consulting offer in the end.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hello,

It’s certainly possible that regional hiring freezes might be impacting the timeline for this role. However, I do know that the EY-Parthenon office is actively hiring, at least in London, so it’s worth staying optimistic. If it helps, you could also consider reaching out to your recruiter or point of contact to politely follow up for any updates on the hiring process.

Best of luck!

Evelina

Hi Evelina, thank you. Good to hear that they're still actively recruiting in London. Hopefully my case will turn out to be something great.

Hey there,

General good practice is to confirm specific employment questions like this directly with recruiters as they would have the most accurate information and updates.

Sometimes also hiring freezes could be in some departments or some departments and functions could be exempted, so even with generalisations it could be difficult.

That said, for strategy and consulting roles, I understand there are still candidates in the pipeline and being interviewed for roles in Big 4. (Of course there is a regional consideration and aspect here)

All the best

Two months without any feedback is definitely unusual. By now, you would typically have received either a rejection letter or notification that you're on the waitlist. Have you reached out to the recruiter for an update on your application? That should be your first step. If the recruiter doesn’t respond, it’s probably best to move on and focus your efforts elsewhere.

Hi Eric, yes I did consistently follow up and was did received an update with a potential offer, pending final approvals, and it got delayed due to tight deadlines the hiring team is facing + holiday seasons/

Hey, I am also going with the same situation, they told me that you have good feedback and shared your result with HR team and they will be touch with you and from there silence. I don't have access to their HR team member.

What will happen don't know, I hope they just share result of interview Its been around 3 months now.

Hi,

I got told informally that I got accepted was on the approval process. But recently, they told me that the hiring is on the freeze in my region, so they can't proceed forward with my application yeah
