Accenture Strategy- Digital & Technology Strategy Manager

Hi Everyone,

I've recently applied for a Digital & Technology Strategy Manager position with Accenture Strategy in Singapore office.

I would appreciate if some one could throw some light around the case interviews ( if this role would have different cases i.e. IT operating model etc. as compared to the usual market sizing/ profitability cases in business strategy roles)

If someone who's been through the process for this role & can put some details around this, that would be great.

Much appreciated.

McKinsey / Accenture Alum / Got all BIG3 offers / Harvard Business School

Hi,

In general, the interviews at Accenture are not that structured:

  • No clear guidelines for cases, so the case depends on the interviewer
  • 60% chance that it will be marketsizing
  • 40% chance - profitability and general frameworks
  • Interviewers are less demanding than at Big3. unless you meet an ex-big3 consultant as an interviewer
  • For fit I would prepare: Story about yourself; Why consulting; Why Accenture; Leadership; Team work; Your questions to the interviewer

In digital - you should be ready both for the conventional and digital cases. Also, You should be ready to talk about the relevant IT topics (Hint: I recommend reading the articles on the McKinsey / BCG / BIG 4 websites. Search for "agile", "Digital", etc)

Here is a list of potential topics you need to know. It is a full list and looks scary but they test a lot of these concepts depending on the particular role:

  • Cloud (cloud vs own servers pro and cons, uptime % SLAs, load balancing, etc)
  • Security (encryption basics, password change policy, cloud security and encryption on your computer)
  • Agile and development (Agile principles)
  • M&A and IT (Will it be one system or two systems? Is it "Adopt and go" approach or we take the best of both systems and create a new one? Integrate now, innovate later? Or Innovate now, when you have time?)
  • IT strategy and Digital transformation (Similar to M&A)
  • IoT (Mainly the use of IoT in operations - Process steps completion, measuring temperature, maintenance measurements, other measurements, predictive algorithms, etc)

Best,
