I have 9 year of work experience, 4 years with Deloitte and 5 years with Microsoft. My experience is focused around Tech and applying that in the Healthcare industry. I have a degree in Engineering and an MBA. Is it too late to switch into management consulting and apply in the MBB's ? If it's not, typically what level would they hire me at.

From my point of view you're moving within the industry, just with a slightly different focus.
Based on your description, you'd be a senior consultant or even a manager (depending on how much management experience you already have).

But as a first step, once you get your CV cleaned up, I'd recommend you start connecting with recruiters from your target offices to figure out what roles would suit you best and whether they are actively recruiting for them at the moment.

I don't think it's too late - I have seen similar cases to yours transition to management consulting after a longer career somewhere.
This is also a very good question to use as a conversation starter for networking, as well as for the recruiting team.
Now, the exact approach and position you would be applying for depends a bit on your specific career trajectory. If you have been showing growth throughout your career at Deloitte and then Microsoft and reached a clear management position, with somewhat comparable type of work to consultant - I think a manager position within consulting (think Engagement Manager at McKinsey, Project Leader at BCG) would be attainable.
Otherwise it would be Associate / Consultant level position (McK/BCG) - so the post-MBA one.
Depending on how specialized your knowledge is in Tech / Healthcare you might also be looking at Expert track type of roles (as opposed to generalist consulting).

It seems you are in your early 30s. If that’s the case, it is not too late. From what you shared, if you apply as a generalist, the most suitable role would most likely be Associate (McKinsey) or Consultant (BCG/Bain). The next level is the manager one, and MBB rarely hire people at that level directly, even when they come from other consulting firms.
If you apply for an expert role, you might be able to leverage more seniority.

No, not to late. If they decide to interview, my guess is that you would join the 2nd year post-MBA role., or some sort of fast track to manager. I.e., not a manager, but giving you time to learn the ropes and the MBB way, and quickly move you to that role if you perform.
