Having went through the interview process recently, I aknowledged the increased intensity of the competition, and want to help candidates maximize their chances and battle circulating misconceptions. The approach will be tailored to each student, and will include assignments. I'm laying out below a typical learning journey that is mostly focused on case prep, but will adjust according to needs. Being currently an MBA student, I have enough flexibility to fit your sessions according to your needs.
1. First Phase: Understanding the Basics
a. Answer all Your Questions (Very Important)
b. Establish a Baseline Understanding of Your Performance (Strengths and Weaknesses)
c. Understand and Share Best Resources for Prep (e.g., case books, online courses)
d. Build a Prep Plan
2. 2nd Phase: Building The Foundation
a. Drills Focused mostly on Structuring (Or Other Weaknesses)
b. Stress Test for Previous Weaknesses Through Casing (Coach and Others)
c. Re-evaluate Prep Plan and Assignments
3. 3rd Phase: Enhancing Your Insights
a. Refining Business Judgement Through Drills and Readings
b. Interpretation and Synthesis of Data Drills
c. Stress Test for Previous Weaknesses Through Casing
c. Re-evaluate Prep Plan and Assignments
4. 4rth Phase: Building Consistency
a. Maintain a Regular Drills Schedule Across Various Areas (e.g., structuring, math, graph reading)
b. Cover a Wide Range of Cases (e.g., Types, and Industries) including unusual cases (e.g., Public Sector). Target Least Covered Areas and Out of Comfort Zones.
