when to switch to MBB

I am currently at a T2. When do you recommend to switch to MBB? I have been with the firm for 6 months, so if I factor in preparation, interviews, etc. then joining MBB after 10 months of t2 experience would be the earliest.

When do you think it would be best to make the move? I want to join MBB as soon as possible as the work isnt interesting to me

Hi

I would first ask if you are in project and if yes I would suggest you to complete a project to get some experience and to test out your area of interest

Second factor is that I would compare the career paths between T2 company and MBB. If the career path in MBB is faster, I would recommend the switch as early as possible.

Hi there,

Q: When do you recommend to switch to MBB?

In most cases, 12 months should be fine:

  1. You can show 1 year of experience on your CV
  2. If you applied before to MBB and got rejected, they usually request 12 months as a waiting period, so you can apply to all of them again after that
  3. If you are rejected after the new application, in most cases you can apply again after another 12 months (thus having a total of 2 years of experience with the Tier 2)

I would also recommend looking for a referral and checking with them if the companies are hiring in your target office. In case they are not hiring, I would recommend waiting for them to start hiring again.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I would wait at least a year or even two before making the move. The current market is also not great so that also speaks against transitioning within the next few months.

Cheers,

Florian

Two years to be a credible experienced hire candidate. Before that it may raise a few red flags.
