What's The Best Day to Be Unavailable Without Missing Recruiting Events?

'm an undergrad student, and I have a commitment that requires me to be unavailable for the entire day once a week on either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. I want to attend any sort of recruiting events from all of the main firms. Which day out of Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday would you recommend for my commitment so that I miss as few events as possible? Thanks!

hey!

Based on general recruiting patterns, Tuesday seems to be the best option since many firms schedule events on Monday or Wednesday. This is a rough estimation that may vary depending on your campus and regional recruiting calendars, so feel free to ask if you’d like a more detailed evaluation.

Hello,

In my opinion Tuesday is the best day to be unavailable, as firms often hold networking events on Mondays and case prep sessions on Wednesdays. While some events happen on Tuesdays, they tend to be less frequent. At EY-Parthenon, we usually host recruiting events on Fridays anyway. Check your university’s career center and firms’ calendars to confirm.

Let me know if you need any other advice!

Hi there,

Most recruiting events are actually Friday, followed by Thursday so either day would work in your case.

All the best,

Hi there,

Check past events days to see if there is a pattern.
My experience: When I was part of the recruitment task force, we would usually do it on Friday.

Best,

Mari

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, generally speaking, Monday tends to have fewer recruiting events than Tuesday or Wednesday, as many consulting firms schedule recruiting events later in the week, with a strong focus on Fridays.
  • Moreover, I would advise you to look at past recruiting events to see if there is a pattern for specific consulting firms.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

There's no one-size-fits-all answer since recruiting events vary by campus and firm. That said, many have found that Monday tends to have fewer events compared to Tuesday and Wednesday, as firms often concentrate their sessions mid/end-week. However, I recommend checking your university's recruiting calendar to see which day generally has fewer sessions on your campus.

Good luck with your recruiting journey!
Best wishes,
Johannes

Hey there,

I'd look at the historical dates of recruiting events at your campus for the firms that you are targeting, and then pick the most ideal day that would mean you don't miss any day (or miss the least).

Different firms have different days for their events for different regions and different times of the year. So there's no "quick" answer to this questions

The day you really need to be free is Friday. As quite frequently is an "office day" (vs. a "client site day"), which is easier to become a recruiting event day.

Since consultants are in their local office, they wont have to travel to go to the university. That also applies to Mondays.

So Tuesday to Thursday are usually better.

I would say that in this order: Wednesday, Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Friday would be the best days to have blocked for something else.
