Resume Suggestion/ Application Tips

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is doing well with their preparations. Do you have any suggestions to build an eligible resume? I think my resume is okay right now but I need some input from experienced applicants or employees from the industry. Any answer would be appreciated.

I'm looking to break into consulting this summer, my aim is an Associate position at BCG as of now. I had no direct consulting experience priorly, so I feel like I'm in the fog a bit.

Thank you lots!

Hi!

This is a very open question. There are several things to focus on to enhance your CV. Let me start by saying that if you truly want to build a strong CV, you will have to work with an expert that has access to your information. Reading online CV guides is helpful (especially if you start from zero), but it will only take you up to a certain level, from there onwards you really need to focus on building your story.

As far as online CV guides, there are plenty of good articles out there. A good example is the PrepLounge article called “Consulting Resume – The Ultimate Guide”, which can be a great starting point to build your CV.

As far as CV experts, I believe most consulting coaches here (including myself) on PrepLouge can help you build a strong CV (on top of case prepping). If you are interested in this, I'm happy to work with you, just write me in private.

I hope this helps!

I suggest that you actually show your resume to one of those people so that they can give you targeted advice.

Hi Thao,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • Depending on how thoroughly you would like to have your resume reviewed, I would be more than happy to either take a cursory look at it free of charge or review it in detail as a CV Review coaching session.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your application, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
