McK PEI: "Problem Solving" as a separate PEI Dimension?

Hi Community!

QUESTION: Is "Problem Solving" a separate (meaning: a fourth) PEI Dimension? Or will only the three dimensions Drive / Personal Impact / Leadership will be asked for in the PEI part?

In the document attached to my official interview invite, McK (Germany) lists the 4 dimensions (Drive / Personal Impact / Leadership / Problem Solving) they are looking for in the interviews. The document states that McK is looking for all these 4 dimensions, and the documents does not clarify whether or not all of these 4 aspects are PEI dimensions.

Thank you!

I know this is very confusing. In practice, no, ‘problem-solving’ is rather assessed during the case, not the interview.

Now there is also ‘courageous change’ as a fourth dimension.

For anyone else who is preparing for the PEI component, I've created a video course with my 6-step storytelling framework that has helped my candidates get distinctive feedback on the McKinsey PEI. You can find out more about it here:

Hi Anonymous,

The PEI has 3 distinct dimensions Leadership, Personal Impact and Entrepreneurial Drive. Analytical problem-solving = case interview!

Hope that helps!

Dear A,

Usually there is only 3 dimensions: leadership, personal impact, and entrepreneurial drive. Problem solving skills will be tested during the case

Best,

André
